The X4 port of the AXC F 2152
Dear people,
I can not find anywhere on the web what kind of port the X4 port is. It seems like a USB-c port, but I am not sure about that. If it is a USB-c port, is it possible to connect a hand scanner to it? So that the scanner can be used in a PLM component or an external Linux application.
Kind regards,
Bart Minten

Hello Bart,
this is indeed a USB-C Port.
Unfortunatly you can not connect a Scanner as that port is only a USB Device not a USB Host/Controller.
kind regards,
Oliver
Hi,
I saw another forum post where an expert of Phoenix Contact said there is the intentention of making it possible to use the USB-C as a tty/(virtual com) interface at the end of 2022. This would leverage the abilities of the device even more. For example connecting a barcode scanner that is programmed to interface over serial (ascii), or even connecting to an arduino ;)
On the otherhand I was wondering why Phoenix Contact offers an option to buy an USB - C to USB - C cable while you can't seem to use it for anything, or am I missing something?
Regards,
Steven

Any news on this firmware upgrade already?
I don't have a record of what I was told in 2018 that informed my expectation back then, but unfortunately that feature was never implemented and it is not currently scheduled.
Please check the "Development roadmaps" page of the Info Center occasionally, and if/when this feature is scheduled it should appear there.
In any case, connecting a barcode scanner probably will not be possible, since the controller will be a USB device, and not a USB controller.
I don't know why a USB cable is listed as an accessory on the website - this looks like a mistake. I will inform the product manager. Thanks for letting us know.
