ProfiNet scan not showing devices
I have had a small issue with the ProfiNet scanner in PLCNext Engineer 2020 yesterday.
The scanner in PLCNext Engineer could not find the devices connected to the ProfiNet. I ould ping the devices, access the internal webpage from the device and in NetNames find and access the devices. But not in PLCNext Engineer.
I did try via the network and a direct connection to the device - no luck.
I was thinking that if we can find the device in NetNames, PLCNext Engineer should also be able to find the devices.
Any advice on how to go on from here?

My scanning button also doesn't work. Does it work when searching for a plcnext? If not, maybe a switch in between will cause it. That's what I read sometime here.
However, you can try do it by hand.

Hello Peter,
the device search at the Project level does only show PLCs that can be instantiated in the engineer.
Then there is an additional scann at the Profi Net node at the PLC which will show you all devices.
We are not aware of any bugs at the Device search.
Also for me this works fine.
Maybe this is an issue of Permissions or the selected networkcard?
kind regards,
Oliver.
If possible check with wireshark if the Scan proccess is sending the PN discovery prrotocoll at all...
Hi Oliver,
I have been on the ProfiNet level.

Hello Peter,
maybe you installed some other software that needs a conflicting NPcap version?
i have NPcap 0.995 installed.
Also check at your Network card that the Npcap driver is activated.

kind regards,
Oliver
Hi Oliver,
sorry have checked that too. Looks like your software doesn’t like ABB inverters. The new FPNO-21 communication module is not found in the scan.
i have been using NetNames to assign the IP address, SubNet and gateway. After that, Engineer could find the modules.
