WBM connecting

Hi. I am new and use the PLCNext starter kit.

I have a problem connecting to the web based management. If I want to connect in the cockpit, the IP address is not found.

The connection to the controller works, however. I think the controller firmware has to be brought up to date so that it runs with the 2021 version.

I am currently using the 2019.0. But first I want to solve the previous problem.

Thank´s for your help

  • Hello,
WebBased Management -> Browser like Chrome https://192.168.1.10/wbm
There you can also execute a FW update.
    https://www.plcnext.help/te/WBM/Administration_Firmware_Update.htm

If you want to reach the PLC using the Engineer you need to use a 2019.0 Template as well.

If for some reason the WBM does not work.
You can copy the *.rauc FW container to the PLC via WinSCP and execute a command via shell "sudo update-plcnext".

after the PLC is finished and booted again you might have to execute another command "sudo recover-plcnext 1".

After some time the Clean PLC of the update you installed is ready for usage.

    kind regards,
    Oliver

  • Hey plcnextstarter,

I assume you are using the wbm button as shown in the following tutorial video:

In that case does PLCnext Engineer use the IP configured in the project to call the browser (https://ip_in_the_project/wbm).
So, if you can connect in PLCnext Engineer with the PLC this should work.
Keep in mind, that you've to change likely the template of the PLC as you've a quite old firmware on the device.

With older PLCnext Engineer version (can not really remember, but for sure already 2 yrs ago) I've had also with sometimes the problem that the WBM was not called correctly from the cockpit.
If you are using also an Engineer version 2019.x it makes defenetly sense to upgrade also here to a more current version.

I hope that helps, otherwise please add maybe one or two screenshots were you get stuck.

    Take care,

    Frank

    Btw.:
If you are new with PLCnext I strongly recommend the plcnext.infocenter .
Here you can find tons of how tos and tutorials which might help you onboarding.

  • Thank you for the quick and competent information.
Unfortunately I still haven't been able to establish the connection.
I am sending you a few more screen shoots here to perhaps draw your attention to a fundamental mistake.
    Many Thanks

  • Hello,

in the last screenshot it looks as if your computer has the same IP address as your default gateway (router). This is not a good idea.

Try to change the IP address of your computer and see if you can access the WBM.
