License key

Hello Dear Phoenix Contact Team,

could you help me with the implementation of the "PC Worx Target for Simulink".

Where can I find the license key?

Thanks a lot

  • Do I understand correctly that this product is chargeable?
  • Yes, you must order this license separately. It is possible to run this software demo mode. From the documentation:

Also, please note this part of the documentation:

There is a trial license for Model Viewer (MV) in this default directory:
    C:\Program Files\PHOENIX CONTACT\PLCnext Engineer 2021.3\Licenses
I believe that this is a time-limited trial license.

You can order full licenses for both these products from your local Phoenix Contact sales office.
  • Thank you for this info.

Which MATHLAB Simulink version is best for use with the PLCNext?
  • The documentation lists the following in the "requirements" section:
    Matlab Simulink R2018a, R2019a, R2020a or R2020b.
  • I have a problem with the installation. Can you help me please.

    Problem description:

I have after installing and uninstalling various MATLAB/Simulink trial versions for some time, now installed MATLAB/Simulink R2020a as per the requirement list in the description. Screenshoot 1

This application also works. The problem appears when installing "PC WORKX Target for Simulink V1.50 Build 16". Before the installation this message appears: Screenshoot 2

I have seen the same error description in the community (with the difference of the minimum requirement R2017a instead of 2016a).

My question is how I can now proceed or which version is now the right one to bring WORX Target to run.

    Thanks for the help!
  • Excuse me for asking again. But I would also be interested in testing CODESYS with PLCNext.

Am I also correct in assuming that there is no trial version to download here.
    The download costs 100€?

    Thanks a lot
  • For the Matlab question:
Have you also installed Matlab Coder and Simulink Coder? These are separate packages from Matlab that must be installed along with Simulink.

    For the Codesys question:
The best option is to contact your Codesys distributor directly, or use the "Contact" button on the Codesys page in the PLCnext Store. Codesys will be able to give you the licensing options for their product.
  • As far as I can check, do I meet these requirements that appear to be not met here?
  • Unfortunately the link from the Info Center to the installation guide is currently broken, but this tutorial should help:
    https://www.plcnext-community.net/en/information-offcanvas/tutorial-videos-offcanvas/92-pc-worx-target-for-simulink-tutorials/428-installing-pc-worx-target-for-simulink-1-4x.html
In the Setup window, the two RFC branches of the tree should be deselected, since these are not required for PLCnext targets, and they need additional installations. I know the error message does not indicate that this is the problem, but please try this and let us know.
  • which target version is suitable for R2020a. unfortunately, only up to version 2019 is described here
  • can you tell me which folder to select here or which destination. maybe the error is here
  • Yes, unfortunately that tutorial is quite old.
As mentioned above, the documentation for version 1.60 of "PC Worx Target for Simulink" requires one of the following Simulink versions:
    Matlab Simulink R2018a, R2019a, R2020a or R2020b.
Did it make a difference when you deselected the two RFC branches of the tree in the installer?
  • unfortunately this has not changed anything
  • i think that should fit, because I have installed R2020a
  • OK, let's go back a step and check exactly which Matlab features have been installed:

    1. Open MATLAB
    2. In the command window, enter "ver". You should see something like this:

Please attach a picture of what you see here.
  • when i call this command this list appears
  • how should i proceed, do you have any ideas?

    thank you very much
    PLCNextStarter
  • As discussed with Eduard, the PC Worx Target for Simulink appears to require that the Matlab/Simulink software is licensed with an official license from Mathworks.
