  • There's no Modbus support built into PLCnext Control devices as standard. The only possibility is to install additional software.
In the PLCnext Store (plcnextstore.com), search for "Modbus". If any of these look interesting, and you need more information, you can contact the vendor using the "Contact" button on the product page.
If you want Modbus remote I/O and other related products, search the Phoenix Contact website (phoenixcontact.com) for "Modbus". There's a landing page with more information on everything related to Modbus.
  • Let me state the true root of the question in a different way. I'm wanting to use a software called Labview by NI. And I want to know how i get it to communicate with the PLC next for all of the I/O command tags. I'm assuming the Scada software would have to use Modbus? Do you have any documents on this?
  • I don't know anything about Labview, but if it is SCADA software then I would be surprised if it could only communicate with devices that support Modbus.
These days, OPC UA is supported by pretty much all SCADA software. PLCnext Control devices have a built-in OPC UA server, so there is nothing else to install on the PLC side.
If Labview does not support OPC UA Client functionality, please let us know and we can look at the other options.
