Hi, Does anyone know the status of support for the EtherCAT fieldbus together with PLCnext technology? Regards
Christian Note: The PLCnext approach sounds very interesting, but for our application we’re likely locked in to using EtherCAT.

Hello I’ve heard a rumor about an extra Ethernet port on the left side of the CPU (for EtherCat).
But i can’t remember the time line, but as far i remember it’s about 6-12months… - Emil
Hello Christian, The rumour that Emil heard is true - the current plan is to release a left-side Ethernet adapter for the AXC F 2152 in the middle of 2019. However this will not be specifically for Ethercat, as far as I’m aware. Regarding Ethercat - at the 2017 SPS/IPC/Drives exhibition in Nürnberg, there was a demonstration of an AXC F 2152 running Codesys and controlling a Variable Speed Drive over Ethercat, using the controller’s on-board Ethernet adapter. While this hinted at the possibilities of the PLCnext Technology platform, it was only a demonstration and not a production-ready implementation. I understand that there may be more news in this area at the 2018 SPS/IPC/Drives exhibition next month … so, as they say, “stay tuned” … - Martin.
Hi, Any update on Ethercat Master in AXC F 2152 Controller..? Thanks and Regards, Nithin Sam
Hi Nithin, we are currently working on the first implementation (Class A) which is planned for the FW 2020.0 LTS. Means I’m pretty sure that we can make you happy end of November ?. cu Frank
Hello Frank, Do you have an update on this matter? A customer is asking us for Ethercat. I told him this is possible by using the CodeSys runtime, but I would like to be able to tell him when it will be available in PLCnext Engineer as well.. Thanks in advance, Kind regards, Adrien
Hi Adrien, we’ve Ethercat of course still on our long term roadmap, but we had to move the subject because of some important other features. But of course we are strongly interested in your demands an usecases, please feel free to contact me directly per mail or phone. Take care Frank
Hello, wanted to see if this ever got implemented.
Unfortunately Ethercat communications has not been implemened in the PLCnext Control firmware yet, and there are no updates on when this might happen (sorry). I understand that Ethercat may be supported by Codesys on PLCnext Control, but this would need to be checked with Codesys.
