Firmware

Hi there, just getting into this using the AXC 2512 HW version 03. Got the latest PLC engineer installed, 2021.3 Can’t figure out how to start a project as I’m confused with all the version nr’s PLCNext Engineer is 2021.3, my AXC PLC has firmware 2020.0.1 LTS installed. So which one do I select from the list of controllers in the tree on PLC next engineer? I believe if I select the wrong one, I won’t get comms connection to the PLC which is what I am experiencing now Also noticed new firmware is available, 2021.0.5 - I could load this onto the PLC - but once again, after doing so, which controller version to select from the tree to start a project? I’m trying to figure out how PLCnext Engineer version 2021.3 relates to PLC firmware versions and what to use when starting a project Thanks

There are a lot of versions available but the selection is not that complicated. As you have an AXC F 2152 with firmware 2021.0.5 you have to select the AXC F 2152 2021.0.0 template. Always select the version that is equal to or lower than the installed version.

Hern Morngoos, Stefan is right, if you start a new project it makes sense to use the template version equal to the PLCs firmware. Important is to know what a template basically is. The template describes which features were supported from the PLCs firmware, for example how many PN devices or which OPC UA Server features. For that reason will PLCnext Engineer declines a download to a PLC were the firmware is less than the version of the template → some features maybe not be supported. On the other hand it is possible to download a project if the template is less the version of the firmware (so, template 2020.0 → firmware 2021.0), as the firmware includes all features of prior versions. Hope that helps, Frank
