It's possible configure AXC F 2152 how profinet slave and master at same time?

Hi. I try configure AXC F 2152 for read a field bus hub, process data and send to PLC master Profinet. can work AXC F 2152 how Profinet master and slave at the same time without module add-ons? thanks for help.

EDIT: This is not possible on two different profinet networks, even with the left-side adapter (see later in this thread) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello. This might be possible, but if so it will be rather confusing, since all three devices (two profinet controllers and two profinet devices) will all be on the same network. One would have to ask why the “PLC Master Profinet” could not process the data from the profinet device directly. But if this is not possible, then it is highly recommended to physically separate the two Profinet networks, using (for example) the left-side extension module (AXC F XT ETH 1TX - 2403115). However, if you would like to try this without the extra hardware:

                                               * Can you successfully exchange data with the Profinet device when the "PLC master Profinet" is not connected to the network?
                                               * Can you successfully exchange data with the "PLC master Profinet" when the profinet device is not connected to the network?
                                               * After completing these two steps successfully, what error do you see when attempting to combine these two functions?

- Martin.

thanks for your fast reply adjunt photo with the network topology topologia the networks are separated and both can work without the other. this configuration work without hardware add-ons?

OK, so if I understand correctly, you would like to give the PLC two different IP addresses, one for each of the Profinet networks, and have it operate as a Device on one network, and a Controller on the other network. At the moment, I am afraid that this is not possible, even if you use the left-side Ethernet extension module. - Martin.

thanks Martin. you support was useful.

Hi jjimenez, Martin are right, the AXC F 2152 has two PN-Ports that are switched and it is not possible to separate the PN-Network. But you can use the Master/Slave feature for load distribution between PN-participans. For example the AXCF2152 as Master processeds the row data from PN BK’s and sends the status to the (global) PN-Master RFC4072. Best, Eduard

Hello, I want to ask for a detailed answer corresponding this “old” discussion: It is not possible to use the AXC-F 2152 (with 2x RJ45 ports) at the same time as a Profinet device (main level PN S2 redundant network - e.g. at X1) and a Profinet master (low level Profinet network to read out devices)? It was the task to use the single PLC AXC-F 2152 as a gateway between an device which does not provide the S2 redundancy function. Thanks! BR Andreas Ehrlich

Hello Andreas, the initial described scenario became possible since the ETH EXT was fully integrated. Since 2020.0 i think Now the PN Master functionality is moved to the EXT ETH MAC while the PN Device functionality stays at the AXC F 2152 ETH ports. That way you can configure the IOs of the low level devices to be forwarded to the processdata of the AXC as PN device

Hello Oliver, thanks for your feedback. So, to realize two decouled Profinet networks with there own IP-area, we need to add to the AXC-F 2152 the AXC F XT ETH 1TX - 2403115 module. Do you have examples (example-programs) to initialize/configure the AXC-F 2152 as the Profinet device and use the AXC F XT ETH 1TX - 2403115 as the controller for lower Profinet netzwork? Are there differences in data handling/Variable handling if I use data from the AXC F XT ETH 1TX - 2403115 ? Thanks! BR Andreas Ehrlich

Hello Andreas, this is the default behavior as soon as you add the XT ETH in your PLCnext Engineer project. The system will be configured as such. PN Master = AXL F XT ETH PN Device = AXC F 2152. The handling of all variables is the same as if you have PN Master and Device on the same network interface. (that is possible as well but you will not be able to place them into separate Subnets.)
