I have an issue with all versions of PLCnext engineer on my laptop, and for the life of me can’t figure it out. If I attempt to scan for devices in the Online Controllers tab of project, I keep getting an error for „Could not communicate with the Profinet stack. (MSG_ONL0185)“
image.pngIt does not matter what revision i use (2023.9, 2024.6, 2025.0) or if i try a blank project or template. I have tried fully uninstalling and reinstalling but it seemingly fixes nothing. I have also tried to launch as admin.
I know my adapter works just fine, I can ping the IP of the PLC (AXL F 2152), and I am selecting the correct network adapter.
Is it possible that something else is messing it up? What can I do from here?
In addition to my comment. Some USB to RJ45 adapters can have issues with Profinet communication. So if you’re using that it’s worth a try to use the laptops RJ45 port.

I will try uninstalling and reinstalling NPCAP. This USB to RJ45 adapter has worked with PLCnext engineer for 2 years prior to this issue occuring. My laptop does not have an RJ45 port natively, so I have to use a USB to RJ-45 connector.
hey Dragonite06,
did you turn profinet on in your WBM/system services
~ Gerard Brouwer

WBM as in the PLC’s WBM? and System services as in the laptops system services? Sorry if these are dumb questions, but I want to make sure I am trying the right things
