Still trying to figure out how Globals are updated. It appears that if a global is mapped to a Process Data Item(Field Connection), then the update of that global can be left at the default of low priority and 50ms, or all of those globals can be assigned to a task. What about a global that is not assigned to a Process Data Item? How does that get updated? I don’t want to discuss Ports, only Globals.

My understanding is that variables in the global Data List that are not connected to Process Data are updated as soon as they are assigned from code. There is no buffering or task synchronisation like there is with Port variables.
