Question about Ethernet/IP communication PLCnext and MICRO850

Dear Colleagues, I was watching the Ethernet/IP video tutorial and it was developed working with RSLogix 5000 and a ControlLogix5561 PLC. We currently have a customer who wants to read variables from an Allen Bradley Micro850 PLC using the "Connected Components Workbench" software. Our inquiry is as follows:
1.- Is it possible to configure the next PLC to read variables from a Micro850 PLC ?
2.- Should I use RSLinx to configure the station in the project?

Comments

  • Hey Albert, hope you are doing well.

So the first would be a maybe, we have not tested this implementation with a Micro AB yet, however as long as the MIcro850 can be an Ethernet IP master, I believe it may work.

The second question as a yes you will have to configure the station using RS links like shown in the video and assing the PLCnext controller to your MICRO 850.

thanks lets us know if you have any other questions

  • I have limited knowledge of the Micro 800 line, but I believe some models are limited to Explicit messaging for Ethernet/IP. It does appear to be capable of Modbus TCP. PLCnext can be used as a master or slave with the Modbus library.
