BACnet Protocol in PLCnext

Hi, Can anyone support with the information regarding BACnet protocol in AXCF 2152 controller?

  • I would also be interested in a BACNet library. Hopefully it is in Phoenix's plans.

  • Hi Vishal and Alex,

There have been a good few requests for BACnet on PLCnext Control devices, but at the moment this is not on the development roadmap. Our Building Automation colleagues in Sysmik are currently running BACnet on ILC devices (via the Niagra framework), and they currently have no plans to migrate this to PLCnext Control.

I notice that there is an open-source implementation of a BACnet stack ... perhaps it is possible for someone in the Community to try cross-compiling this for a PLCnext Control device?

    ~ Martin.

  • Thanks for the response Martin.

We would also be interested in BACnet on PLCnext. Even if we compiled our implementation our customers would want the BTL certification.

  • I add the same request could be very interresting to have a BTL certification. Funny to see that many compagnies have building and industrial departement but don t want to work together. I assume this is to protect their own market ;) Bacnet is supposed to be an open protocol but building automation is a close market.
  • Currently there are no plans to implement and certify BACnet for the AXC F 2152.
Phoenix Contact does have an extensive Building Automation solution offering, but currently not involving BACnet on PLCnext Technology devices.
  • There is good open source project for BAcnet in Python (BAC0)

Some of my friend use it in Europe and I have a POChere in Canada to connect BACNET to MQTT 5

    Regards
  • 5 years later apologies to drag up an old thread - is this something that is on the plans now?

  • I'm sorry to say that in the four years since my previous reply, there are no changes to report.

The Building Automation solutions that are available from Phoenix Contact currently (still) do not involve BACnet on PLCnext Technology devices.

  • One possibility (although I have not tested this) would be to use Node Red on the PLCnext and pull a BACnet library down.

It is interesting that this slide was used in PLCnext marketing (but I do not remember where I pulled this from); maybe marketing needs to have a meeting with engineering. :-)
