Templates for large deployments?

An OEM wants to use PLCnext and the TSD Analytics service to display machine data on Proficloud. They make hundreds to thousands of machines and each machine has the same tags with the same naming convention. They would like to create individual dashboards for each of their machines, however as you can imagine it would be extremely time consuming to setup each dashboard manually. 

Is there a way to create dashboard/variable templates so this OEM could connect a new PLC to the cloud, select it from a menu, and have a dashboard auto-populate the graphs and tables with the variables on this particular PLC? or is there another way you recommend to simply the setup for large scale deployments?

    Hi Dave,

    Yes, you can create templates of the dashboard, but you would need to assign the metrics every time again for the new dashboards.

     

    Share dashboard -> Export

    Then when creating a new dahboard, simply import the json file.

    What about the templating variable feature in Grafana? Can you explain how this feature works?

    I didn`t use the templating feature before... The documentation how it works is here: https://grafana.com/docs/grafana/latest/reference/templating/

    I´ll se if I can get some experience with it....or if you are faster than me, please share it here!
