processing speed of various PLCs

I'm getting interested in the PLCNext line and I'm trying to understand the processing speed of each PLC.

Other PLC manufacturers will sometimes give an average instruction execution time in micro seconds.

For example the PLC I use in my daily work, an ABB AC500 PM591 shows in the technical information catalogue 0.002 us for a binary instruction and 0.004 us for a word or floating point instruction.

Another PLC line I was looking at, the B&R X20, shows information like minimum task period 100/200/400 us and typical instruction time like 0.0015, 0.0028 us etc.

Is there any such information available for the AXC F 1152, 2152 and 3152, and for the RFC 4072S?

I'm trying to do a cost comparison to see if we would have any savings by changing to PLC Next, and for that I need to be able to compare processor modules of similar capability in terms of memory and speed.

  • Hello,

Unfortunately we have no performance comparation vs competitors. We are working on this, and hopefully we will have some infomation by the end of this year.

    Regards,
    Martin.
