PLCnext Engineer: Not having online edit with ST?

Hi engineers.

We have received the PLCnext starterkit to judge if it would fulfill our requirements. So far so good.

 

We do have a question: Is there a possibility of an Online Edit like on some competitors enviroment? Editing ST during online mode, including live parameters.

    Hi Carel,

    we do have not exactly the same but a similar function, we call it "Fast Edit Mode" (just search the Engineer Help for Fast Edit).

    Basically it simplifies the procedure modify some code while you are in debug mode.

    If you're debugging a, let's say codesheet in ST, you can activate the Fast Edit directly from this work sheet.
    Engineer goes right away in edit mode while you stay at the position of the code. After modifying the code you decide how to proceed.
    Download all, only changes, with or without sources.

    Just play a bit around with this feature and let us know.

    Thanks for your reply.

    This option was partialy as expected. The downside is that the live parameter data is not visible during the fast edit mode.

     

    This is something we will have to work with.
