EPC1522 can not write (as root) to /media/rfs/rw

An another problem during my tryouts of the EPC1522. Besides that I was able to create 'root', install IPKG and with that MC. I run into a problem with adjusting the PATH setting at /etc/profile.d/plcnext_app.sh. I can't save the changed file. The PLCnext has a overlay filesystem and new and adjusted files are put on /media/rfs/rw/upperdir. And indeed; the just installed files from IPKG and MC can be found on this part.
But the strange thing is, that, as a root user, if I want to make a new directory at /media/rfs/rw/upperdir with mkdir, I get an error message: root@epc1522:/media/rfs/rw/upperdir# mkdir: cannot create directory '/media/rfs/rw/upperdir/test': Read-only file system
Why?
