PLCNEXT can be in marine environments?

Hello everyone I have some questions regarding the possible environments where you can install the PLCNext, it is possible that this will go on a ship, where it will eventually be exposed to environments where there will be sea water on the floor of the room where you plan to install.

If someone could recommend me a model for this application, or maybe a PLC of the INLINE or AXIOLINE line, I remain attentive to your suggestions.

Greetings to all

  • Hi there. I am afraid that we can only comment on the PLCnext Control range of products - for InLine Controllers (ILC) or Remote Field Controllers (RFC), I would like to suggest that you get in touch with the technical specialists in the Phoenix Contact office in your country.

As you are probably aware, equipment installed on ships usually requires specific approvals. The details will vary by country, so you will need to check which approvals are required in your case.

PLCnext Control devices have various maritime approvals such as DNV, LR, BV, Rina, NK, KR, etc. So in principle it is possible for these devices to be used on ships. There may also be additional specifications on where these devices may be installed on a ship. For DNV, certain installation locations must meet certain classes in terms of temperature, humidity, etc. This information can be found in the certificates.

Apart from approvals specific to the maritime industry, you must also consider general issues like ingress protection (IP). Since PLCnext Control devices are IP20 rated, they must be mounted in a watertight cabinet if they are located in a room with water, or if they are mounted on an open deck.

If you would like someone to contact you directly for a more detailed discussion about your application, please let us know.
