Sequential Function Charts

Hello,
Is there a way to implement SFC in PLCNext Engineer, or will there be an update in the future that adds SFC? Thank you in advance.

  • SFC is already implemented in PLCnext Engineer. To use SFC you need an SFC license which is an add-on that you can purchase from your local Phoenix Contact representatives.

There is a 14 day license you can activate to try the SFC implementation.

    1. Open your Phoenix Contact Software Activation Wizard
    2. Browse to the directory where PLCnext Engineer is installed
    3. In there is a license folder containing a number of trial licenses.
    4. Activate the SFC trial license (valid for 14 days).

Once activated you can create SFC POU's as Function blocks, that can then be instantiated in your programs.

    I hope this helps.
  • This was very helpful. Once Activated, is there a means for importing an SFC in whole or in parts, from a PC Worx Project (I am able to import projects, but not the SFCs even after activating the SFC license). I can Add SFC Function Blocks but have not figured out how to import the charts, steps or transitions. Manually reproducing is an options, but not preferred.

  • Have you tried to export it as PLCOpenXML and import it in PLCnextEngineer?
