confusion about system variables

I see this reference to system variables - in the context of importing libraries into PLCNE:

https://www.plcnext.help/te/Programming/IEC_61131-3/System_variables/System_variables_part1_4072.htm#System_time

I don't understand which library needs to be installed or how these variables are accessed.

in my PLCNE DataList there are no System Variables

Presumeably I need to load some library, yet no library is referenced in the area where the System Variables are referred to - which would be the obvious place to indicate which libraries need to be loaded

  • Hi Kurt,

you should try to filter for "RTC" instead of "HOUR".

  • As DivisionByZero suggests, the reason you cannot see any System variables is because you have applied a filter on the Data List window that doesn't match any system variables. If you remove the filter by clearing the "Search" box on the top right of the view, you will see all the System variables.

  • Thank you for the advice...

I was confused by the filtering working differently in the Data List

than in the components sidebar on the right which seems more intuitive and makes more sense to me

In the components sidebar, filtering does not obscure the main organizational categories

    it simply shows 0/nn

In the Data List, filtering obscures the "catagories" / modules unless there are variables not hidden by the filtering

When I remove the filtering altogether, then System Variables appears...

One thing I notice is that I used to get emails when there were responses to forum questions / posts

but I don't any more... I have to come and look in the forum manually for responses
