Digital Input and Analog Input modules give lower values than the measured output voltage

Dear all,

I am working with a AXL F 1152 controller in combination with a AXL F BP SE4 module carrier with 4 modules including a DI16/1 digital input module and AI4 U 0-10V analog input module.

I want to read the output of an analog sensor which outputs 0-10V, the sensor is connected to 24 VDC. When I connect the output voltage of the sensor to one of the analog-inputs of the module, it reads the value 277. Which converts to 0.277 VDC (according to the datasheet). This is weird, because the multimeter measures 4.5 Voltage from the output of the sensor.

A similar problem occurs with a digital sensor. The sensor is also connected to 24VDC, and outputs this same voltage. But when it is connected to the digital input module, the voltage drops to 7 Volts. The digital module cannot detect this signal as a high-signal because the minimum-threshold seems to be 11 Volts.

What can be the problem for the analog module as well as the digital module?

  • Hi, it seems that some wireing issue is take place. Check wireing diagram carefully, and if you wish, provide schema here.

  • Hi, for the analog module it was indeed a wiring issue. I did not have the corresponding ground of the analog input connected, just the output of the sensor.

The issue for the digital module was solved by adding a 5 kOhm resistor in between the output of the sensor and the voltage source.

    Thanks!
