Siemens remote I/O connection
Hello,
As I am the first in my company to work with PLCnext, my assignment is about implementing the PLCnext in a running installation. My internship stops in the end of January, but it should be great if the project will really nice if the installation is running with the PLCnext. It currently runs on a Siemens PLC, HMI and Remote I/O. My mentor told me it would be by far the easiest if I could keep the HMI as it is right now and also the Remote I/O, since that is working at the moment. He thinks it can be done by Profinet.
Is that possible? I'm quite new in the PLC-world, so maybe it is very easy haha. I've found something about GSD files, is that the right corner I'm searching in? Or is profinet not possible and should I use OPC or something like that?
The current PLC is the 'CPU 1511-1 PN'. HMI: 'TP1200 Comfort' and I/O: 'IM 155-6 PN ST'.
All information is welcome, thanks.
Arne

Hello Arne,
yes first you need the GSDML files and import them in the PLCnext Engineer.
Hopefully they are compatible (some old versions might cause issues as the Profinet Specification has changed alot.)
Does the IO or HMI support any other communication protocoll?
kind regards,
Oliver
