AXC F 2152 Dual Redundancy

Hello, I’ve been making an application that may use a PLCNext AXC F 2152, but requires assurance that the program won’t fail or go offline unexpectedly. I am wondering, whether it’s possible to have two AXC F 2152s connected on the same bus/rail line. In the event that one PLC goes down (perhaps due to power failure or otherwise) the second one can take over, and have access to all the same Axioline modules and wiring. Is this setup possible?

There is an option to have 2 F2152 to do redundancy via Profinet and the use of 2 managed switches and a TPS Profinet BK that Phoenix sells and controlling Axioline I/O. Would that work? We have a customer who is testing this right now.

Hello, That may work. Is there a location which I can be updated on the progress of the testing? Regards, Sean

Hello tthayer,

the most of the control process requires that the redundant controllers be configured to transfer status information from the process control areas of the primary controller to the backup controller. My colleague is working on this solution for plcnext controller and will be available next week. I will ask him about the status and inform you as soon as possible.

Best Regards
Eduard

Hi Sean, Testing has been delayed due to other more immediate priorities due to covid. I am very interested in hearing what Eduard has to say about the solution they are working on

Hello tthayer, please find in attachment the documentation for the Applicative System Redundancy for PLCnext Control AXC F 2152. The library will be published in the AppStore when the FW 2021.0 LTS is released (at the end of this year). In attachment you will find the documentation on the redundancy of the applicable system for PLCnext Control AXC F 2152. If you would like to start with yor project earlier, please contact me directly via E-Mail: emuenz@phoenixcontact.com Thanks & Best Regards Eduard
