When trying to control outputs for the 2702072 (AXL F AI2 AO2 1H) module in PLCnext Engineer, the only Process Data Item that changes any of the outputs is ~AQ32, which seems to only change the voltage output of ports 03 and 13. Changing the output of what PLCnext Engineer calls OUT01 or OUT02 does not change the output of any port.
Question 1: What is ~AQ32?
Question 2: How should we be using the variables OUT01/02? (i.e. what ports do these go to, what is the proper usage of these variables) ![Analog Issue]()
Hi Jon, TL;DR: Delete variable AQ32 from your PLC variable table, or at least disconnect it from ~AQ32 in the port list. Details: ~AQ32 is a 32-bit value that you can use to write to both 16-bit analog outputs with one variable. The more commonly used alternative is to write the two 16-bit analog outputs separately, using OUT01 and OUT02. You should choose one or the other method of writing outputs, but not both - otherwise, two variables will be trying to write to each analog output channel, and it looks like (in your case) AQ32 is trumping AnalogOut_0n. How the 16-bit analog values correspond to analog output behaviour is described in the User Manual, and set up in PLCnext Engineer. In PLCnext Engineer, choose the type of analog output you want for each channel, e.g. 0-10V, 4-20 mA etc. - see screen shot below.
Then, connect your field device to either the Voltage or Current output terminals on the I/O module, depending on what you selected in PLCnext Engineer. The below is from the user manual for that Analog I/O module:
The translation from 16-bit word in the PLC, to Voltage or Current value at the output terminals, is also described in the user manual. For example, the behaviour of the 4-20 mA output option is shown in the table below.
Hope this helps. - Martin.
Hi Martin, Thank you for your response. How can I choose the type of analog output in PLCnext Engineer? Can this be done on the Axioline F window under the Data List tab? I do not see any option to change this in PLCnext Engineer. Thanks, -Jon
Oh, it seems that one of the screen shots in the previous post didn’t get inserted correctly. Sorry about that. In PLCnext Engineer, double-click on the AI2 AO2 module in the green pane on the left. In the window that appears, click on the “Parameters” tab, and then click on the “Output 1” option in the list on the left side of that window. There is a drop-down list where you can choose the output type. - Martin.
