I am having some troubles connecting two profinet devices on PLCnext Engineer that are not Phoenix Contact brand. I can see the stations under online devices when scanning, and I can see the Brand/Product ID/other info when trying to add to project. But I can’t select anything from the “Type” dropdown, so when I click ok, nothing happens. I can also send the blink signal successfully. I have connected and used these profinet controllers successfully in PCWORX as well, I am just working on migrating that project over to PLCnext. Any help would be much appreciated.
The approach that typically works for me is:
1. Import GSDML
2. Add device to device list.
3. Confirm Reduction Ratio and Monitor Factor match the capabilities of that device.
4. Scan for device.
5. Select online device to apply project settings to.
This approach works better for me than scanning for device and adding that device to project. For some devices, the nodes and process data that gets added is incomplete if not adding to device list first.
