I got this error while selecting the “Generate .progmeta Metaconfig” popup menu item: 'An internal error occurred during: “CPP Program Metaconfig Parser”.
java.lang.NullPointerException’ I know I probably did something wrong, but that kind of error feedback does not help me. Attached is my sample code, so someone at PhoenixContact can trace where the weakness is. PC Worx Engineer 7.2.1 (install 3.11.104.0)
Thanks
Hi fblanchard, indeed is a null pointer exception not very helpful
. I can recreate the problem also on my workstation and involved already my colleges from the development to have an deeper look at this. As soon as I’ve a feedback I’ll let you know. cu Frank
I got this error when I was first using this controller too. What was my problem was that the 'Generate Mete…" thing was being told to look for a file to parse but it was being pointed to nothing, hence, “null pointer”. (The tool is written in java I believe so that’s why it’s a java error: Fun Fact) This error popped up when I was trying to add new cpp files to the same library. Anyway, look in the the file tree in Eclipse and find the “Config” folder and keep breaking it down to the .progmeta, .compmeta and .libmeta files. Open each of those files and make sure paths & names are pointed to the right places. This link is for adding a cpp program to the same library. It works but read it carefully and take time to make sense of the pictures. https://www.plcnext-community.net/index.php?option=com_content&view;=article&id;=89:add-a-new-c-program&catid;=45&Itemid;=263⟨=en
Yes it is an java error. I started a project from scratch and reproduced this problem easily. So I stopped using this tool and I doing all by hands now, with success. I suggest someone fix that obvious bug sometime soon. Thanks.
Hi fblanchard, I’ve found the problem, and even when it is trivial it’s a real annoying one! It seems that you used in the initiate project the program names “LPC.Dimmer” and “LPC.Property” and both names are defined inside the .progmeta. But the program names are not longer separated with a “.”, now there are underlines → “LPC_Dimmer” and “LPC_Property”, so the reference is wrong and the parsing fails. However, the error message “Null” is not very helpful, we will improve the Add In with the next versions and for this one I’ll create directly a FAQ. Cu Frank
