EPC 1502 WiFi and BLE

Hi, I recently got a EPC 1502 device. I was surprised about the antenna that comes with the device, as the data sheet does not state any wireless capabilites. I figured out, that there is a broadcom BCM4356 integrated, however i haven’t found a way to use it. Is there a way to use wireless connections, especially BLE? bluetoothd seems not to be installed. Cheers

Hi ingfu, thanks for your question and sorry for my delayed answer. You are right, there is a WLAN card (BCM4356) installed as well as an antenna inside the box. However, the wireless function is yet not integrated and can’t be used currently. The wireless function will be updated end of this year, therefore you arleady have an antenna inside the box. You can than open-up all functions and the visualisation wirelessly. The firmware update will be provided on our homepage. Even though the card supports bluetooth, this function is not supported and won’t be after the update. Don’t hesitate to ask if you have further questions. Best regards Daniel

Hello Daniel, Can you provide an ETA for the firmware update so we can use the display port and the wireless antenna? And, are we going to be able to use the display port other than for the eHMI? Per example, if we would like to use it to look a web dashboard? Best regards,

Hello Scloutier, thanks for your interest for future function of our EPC. The new firmware (2022.0) will be released on 2022-04-15 - So right before the hannover fair this year. All interfaces, including the DisplayPort and the wireless antenna can be used after updating the device. You will then be able to output all functions of the Edge Cockpit including any choosen visualisation software. A web dashboard (Node-RED dashboard, InfluxDB Chronogarf or any integrated Dashboard via Docker for example) can be visualised as well. Please let me know if you have any open question. Best regards, Daniel
