Error during installation of node-red

I have downloaded all the files required to install node-red… when i input the “npm install -g node-red” command i get an error stating “node: error while loading shared libraries: libatomic.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory” To my understanding, this means that i dont have the libatomic.so.1 library installed on my machine. I would like to know how i can download and install this library on my machine. I have searched the web for this, but it requires apt-get package, which is not installed on the machine either. Is there a way to directly install the library and if not, how can i download the apt-get package on the machine since i can only see ubuntu and debian versions for apt-get?

I am not sure which procedure you followed to install node-red. A good way to install node-red on an AXC controller is described here: https://www.plcnext-community.net/en/hn-makers-blog/481-node-red-and-getting-started-with-docker.html

I have tried the method described in the link but it does not work. Edit : How much space does the installation require? i have realised that my plc only has around 500MB of free space

If you install node-red, especially with docker, 500 MB will not be enough. You will need a Phoenix Contact SD card for the installation. The compatible SD cards can be found on the phoenixcontact website. Only these will work in an AXC.
