I was wondering which HLL’s are the best to use in PLCNext projects. This depends heavily on the project ofcourse, but is it easy to use external processes and other languages as C/C++/C#/Simulink? Should I just focus on the Visual Studio and Eclipse plug-ins? In general these languages can help out with almost everything, so is it even necessary to look further? I just want a second opinion on that :). Arne
Hello Arne, It up to your skills: if you are good C++ programmer - you should use C++, if you are master Matlab - you choice is Matlab, and so on.
+1 for Dzmitry’s answer. Use what you know, until it cannot do what you want.
That’s definitely true, but is it the easiest to use VS or Eclipse (because Phoenix made Templates for the project), or is choosing another program (installing on linux) also a good option which is quite easily to implement?
If you want to build PLCnext Control Components and/or Programs without PLCnext Engineer - then VS or Eclipse with the corresponding PLCnext add-in are pretty much the only way you will be able to do this. If you cannot do what you need using PLCnext Control Components and/or Programs, then there are other options, but these should only be considered if you cannot achieve what you want using PLCnext Control Components and/or Programs. - Martin.
