Most of the time we talk about generating FB’s or libraries in C++ / C#, but for some or better most standard applications that isn’t needed. Is there a way of generating libraries direct in PCWorx Engineer, the same way as we have in PCWorx? Peter
Hello Peter, in PC Worx Engineer, the menu option “File → Export as Released IEC Library …” allows a function (block) library to be created. Is this what you were looking for? Regards, Martin.
Hi Martin, I will give it a try. Now that we talk about libraries: The analog library for PCWorx Engineer doesn’t contain FB’s for the axioline AI / AO modules. Does that mean we have to write our own FB’s for the scaling of the values alone? Is no problem, but have had those in PCWorx. For the moment I can only see the options for the Inline modules. Peter
Hi Peter, You can use the two FBs in the AnalogTechnology_3 function block library with Axioline analog modules. It appears that the current documentation provided with this library mentions only the Inline analog modules. I hope that the documenation will soon be updated, but in the mean time I have asked for a list of “Module Type” parameter values that should be used with Axioline analog modules. I will post that list here when I have it. - Martin.
Hi Peter, Version 4 of the Analog Technology library is due to be released later this month. This will include updated documentation. Until then, you should be able to guess which of the existing Module Type parameter values you should use for the Analog Function Blocks, depending on the Data Format that you are using for each Axioline analog module in your project. If you need help with this, please let us know the details of your Analog Module configuration in PC Worx Engineer. - Martin.
Hi Peter, Just an update on this issue - the latest Analog Technology library (version 4) is now available for download from the Phoenix Contact website. The documentation now includes references to all relevant Axioline analog modules, including the Function Block parameters that can be used with these modules. Note that this version of the Analog Funtion Block library can be used with PC WORX ENGINEER version 7.2.2 and above. Martin.
Hi Martin, thanks for the information. I did in the meantime just use my own FB’s. There is always the issue that , when working with analog values, you have to make your own scalling function - it’s the nature of the beast. but again, that is one way to find ways or short commings of a programming software. And if not in the programming software, so in the 3th party hardware. Not all products have a unified range. So, its not a big deal. I was just wondering why you should have missed the AXL funxtion in the old Lib, when we using the AXC and AXL modules mostly in PCWorx Engineer. Our local supporter is coming to Germany for your internal training soon. I hope that he can come back with some new inputs to us on PCWorx Engineer and PLC Next. As for now, myself and all the other programmers a just getting the software to know. It is one thing to get a manual and a different thing, to work with the software. But, I guess we will see bigger changes coming with the SPS & Drives. So, we may have to rethink some of what we have done so far.
