Hello All, We are building an external application to read data using AXL F RS UNI 1H. Application start RSC service with ArpSystemModule_Load function and then communicate using IAcyclicCommunicationService. However after every run device(AXCF 2152) needs to restarted. Is it possible to run test builds repeatedly without restarting? If yes then how can we do that.
Hello Vikash, I guess you are starting your external application using an acf.config file, similar to the Sample Runtime example. In this case, your application will be started by the Application Control Framework during the startup of the plcnext process. I am fairly sure that there is no way to re-load an ACF component dynamically, after the plcnext process has started up, not least because it has the potential to cause problems for dependent components (e.g. the client of an RSC service) if any component (e.g. an RSC service) could be restarted at any time … So I am fairly sure that the only way to restart your external application is to restart the plcnext process, which can be done in one of three way: 1) Cycle power to the PLC (not easily automated). 2) Software reboot of the complete operating system (more easily automated, but not so nice). 2) Execute this command (as sudo or root): /etc/init.d/plcnext restart (easier to automate, but still takes some time to reload) If you’re aware of option (3), but if this isn’t suitable for your case, please let me know and I can check if there is some way to dynamically reload a single plcnext component. Martin.
Hello Martin, Thanks a lot for response, I was not aware of option 3. For now this will work fine for us. It takes ~11 seconds for service to restart but it is acceptable duration and will work fine for our development activities.
