Inserting SD card in Controller with project onboard

Hello Community, Does somebody know if I can just pop a SD-Card in my AXC F 2152 (when shut down) without losing my project that is on the controller? The SD-Card is brand new and my controller contains a PCWE project + some configurations on the Linux side. Best regards, Stijn Noppe

Hi Stijn, Please see this article: https://www.plcnext-community.net/index.php?option=com_content&view;=article&id;=250:release-notes-fw-1-10&catid;=18&Itemid;=176⟨=en

Two cases of SD card use can be distinguished:

                                               1. > There is no overlay filesystem on the SD card: If there is an overlay filesystem on the internal parameterization memory, it is copied to the SD card.

                                               2. > There already is an overlay filesystem on the SD card: If there is an overlay filesystem on the internal parameterization memory, it is not copied to the SD card. The controller accesses the overlay filesystem on the SD card. **The overlay filesystem on the internal parameterization memory is deleted**.

This means that, if the SD card is brand new and contains no overlay file system, then when the controller starts up it will copy the contents of the on-board overlay file system to the SD card, and then use that as the overlay file system. This means that the PCWE project and other configuration information will be copied to the SD card. However, if you insert an SD card that already has an overlay file system (from another PLC, for example), then any PCWE project already on the PLC will be deleted. - Martin.

Thanks Martin!
