install Java Runtime Environment 8 , MySQL Community Server 5.7.26, Apache2 Web Server and PHP programming language

Hi, We have upgraded the AXC F 2152 PLCNext to the latest firmware 2019.6 and tried to install Java Runtime Environment 8 , MySQL Community Server 5.7.26, Apache2 Web Server and PHP programming language but we are not able to install the above packages. We were not able to find any suitable package manager to do the above packages directly from Online Repositories. we interested to make use of the PLCNext as a mini Linux Server because we have developed one automation application, which runs comfortably in the above mentioned technologies.Please help us to install and support for the above packages.{jcomments on}

Hello, There is currently no package manager installed by default on the PLC, and no repository specifically for PLCnext Control targets. There are a few solutions you could try: 1. Cross-compile all applications from source using the SDK for your PLCnext target. Given the number and complexity of applications you mentioned, this would not be a simple process. 2. Install a third-party package manager, for example ipkg from Optware-ng or Guix. These make package installation simpler, but have some disadvantages:

                                               1. Some package managers (like Guix) are quite resource-heavy.
                                               2. We don't have any control over the repositories, so you might not find all the packages you need, or they might not be the version you want.

I myself have had good experiences with the Optware-ng package manager when preparing demonstrations of open-source software on the AXC F 2152. We have a video on this site showing how to install this package manager, and there is a Makers Blog article on the guix package manager, but I am afraid that this is the limit of our support for these (or any other) package manager at the moment. Re. the packages you mention - the AXC F 2152 already comes with Nginx and sqlite pre-installed, and Node.js can be installed from the PLCnext Store. You could consider this combination for your mini-Linux server, especially on the AXC F 2152 which doesn’t have the luxury of server-sized resources that some apps expect. I would be interested to know how you get on with this project, if you are happy to share the results. Martin.
