PLCnextBase and SysNtp

I am trying to use the SysNtp FB from the PBCL library, but I have some problems with regards to the “xRestartRequired” output. I have connected the “strNtpHostAddress” to a string variable which is initialized on start-up and never changed. I have configured the block in ReadWrite mode, but even after a PLC restart and with the same NTP server IP address the xRestartRequired output is asserted, why is this? I have the PLCnextBase ServiceProvider running and I can connect without problems to an NTP server if I start the block in Read mode. Can anybody provide some additional details on the SysNtp block please? SysNtp

Hi poulb, I’ve never used the functionblock so far, but I’ve passed your request to the responsible team and they’ll come back to you soon. cu Frank

Hi Poul,

currently the function block does not recognize changes in the configuration. The output xRestartRequired always switches to TRUE, when the service was executed successfully. A workaround for this behavior would be executing the function block multiple times: First reading the current configuration, then checking the IP address and executing in write mode only if the configuration has changed. cu

Hi, I am also trying to get the date from a NTP Server from Windows but it is not working. The strState variable is not showing a connection with the server. But the FB seems to be OK (work done, no error). I have set all the parameters needed in the Windows Registry in order to have an activated NTP Server. Any idea? Hello Angel, Are you trying to implement an NTP server at AXCF2152, right? Please check at Shell (ntpq -n >pe and >as) the ntpd status. You can also look at status code KOD of your NTP client. Then you can have an idea of what is happening. regards, Amilton
