Restore failed

Using the WBM of an AXC F 3152, we try to import a backup of “Remaining Files”. The WBM then reports “Restore failed”:

Sadly it doesn’t tell us the exact cause of the problem. How can I find out what it is or fix the error?

Hello Armali,

I have the following two ideas:
-The firmware version does not match the backup

Can you check this again?
-Possibly there was some garbage in the overlay that is no longer accepted
This can happen if no reset type 1 is carried out before a firmware update.

Hallo, Tim,
thanks for your ideas, but …

  • Why should any “Remaing Files”, having nothing to do with the firmware, not be able to be restored regardless? Anyway, this happens even if I try to restore immediately following the backup on the very same AXC, so no version change.
  • I expect a restore to do its job, namely restore a backup, without going into regarding what I backed up as garbage while not even telling what exactly it dislikes. There was and will be no firmware update or reset type 1, of course, since we would lose all user data given that the restore doesn’t work.

Do you have another suggestion to back up or copy the content of the SD card? (Copying files on the - I think - ext4 filesystem is not trivial for users with just a Windows 11 PC at hand, is it?)
