I am trying to save the retain data on the plc. Here are the steps I followed. 1. Enable retain on several variables. 2. Go to cockpit and save the retain data. 3. According to the manual a prb file is saved. 4. I connected to winscp and look for *.prb file. It does not exist. Where is it located? 5. Stop the controller. 6. Restore last saved data button is enabled. This tells me the retain data from step 2 worked but I couldn’t find it anywhere in the plc (prb file(s)). 7. According to the manual, the plc is able to save up to 10 retain data. If I am able to save 10 retain data, how can I tell the PLC to load a specific one? How does it know which retain data to load if there are 10.
Hello gian.flores, The PRB file is saved in the / opt / plcnext / retaining / backups folder. I will provide your question on point 7 to the responsible team and give you an answer as soon as I have it. Regards, Eduard
Hello Eduard, I went to the folder and the files does not have extension prb. All three files actually does not have any extension at all. Is there supposed to be a *.prb file in this folder?
Hello gian.flores, I have provided your question to development, please find the answers below: - The backup file has no extension (* .prb in the documentation is therefore not correct and will be corrected) - The files in the retaining / backup folder contain the backup including binary data from the retain memory I.e. is not readable by user - Only the latest stand can be read back via the PnE. The PnE takes the file with the latest date in its name. The user can adapt the name to a more recent date. If you have additionally questions, please don’t hesitate to ask! Best Regards Eduard
