Visual Studio Project Creation Error

Hi all.

I am attempting to create a new project but constantly come across the below error when doing so.

I have tried repairing the PLCnext Toolchain but that did not work unfortunately.

Below are the versions of all the things I downloaded to get to this point:

  • PLCnext Engineer: 2024.0.4

  • PLC firmware version (as seen in wbm): 2024.0.16

  • Toolchain: 2024.0 LTS

  • SDK: 2024.0.9

  • Visual Studio: 2022

Hi,

this is an issue of an up to date Visual Studio 2022 and our Toolchain developed and tested for a VS 2022 version from the past.
You have two options:

  1. Downgrade your Visual Studio to < 17.9.2. They suddenly changed the behavior of project generation.
  2. Use a newer toolchain at least version 2024.6 (were the issue is fixed). But the newest 2026.0 toolchain should also be compatible with the SDK 2024.0 LTS.

Thanks for the help. Upgrading the Toolchain to 2026.0 did work and I was able to get a project file (.pcwlx) built.

However, now when trying to import the library, I come across the attached error. Does this have to do with the Toolchain version? If so, which version that is compatible with the rest of the items that I downloaded (as seen in initial post) will work?

You are right, that has to do with the library builder included in the toolchain. It always builds for the same version engineer. But you can configure it to build for an older version:
